Cylinder Arm Walking Foot Sewing Machines Cylinder arm sewing machines have the advantage of being more versatile. With a cylinder arm machine you can put the cylinder arm inside of a bag, whereas you cannot do that with a flatbed machine.  A cylinder arm machine can also do what a flatbed machine can do.
