Workshop with Lauren Mormino

This 1-day workshop is a wonderful hands-on sewing opportunity to take your bag-making skills to the next level. You will have the opportunity to experience sewing on industrial walking-foot sewing machines along with using other professional bag-making tools, supplies and techniques. Industrial machines are being provided for each participant during the workshop by our main sponsor Sunny Sewing MachinesLimited to 15 participants per workshop date, this workshop is expected to sell out. Tickets on sale mid December. Price announced at that time but expected to be under $199.

I: INTRO TO INDUSTRIAL SEWING

An overview of the machines will be covered along with how to use them. Come away with a practical understanding of the key features, differences, and benefits for the various machines.

II: ESSENTIAL BAG-MAKING SKILLS

Via lecture, demonstration and the opportunity for hands-on sewing and trial, these essentials of bag-making will take your bags to the next level. The different types of vinyl, interfacing, and hardware along with how to affix them will be covered. Never again be afriad of cutting into your fabric to install a rivet or make a hidden-strap connector! Come away with the confidence and know-how to give your bags a more professional finish.

III. BASICS OF LEATHER CRAFT FOR BAG-MAKING

Via show’n tell and a few quick demos, We’ll share what you need to know to get started using leather for bags — different types of leather, the tools to start, and a few basic techniques to open up new possibilities. Come away with an understanding of whether you want to further pursue bag-making with leather even if only for a strap or zipper overlay.
